Post-Obama, Donald Trump builds up America's Strength in Asia, the World

Donald Trump shift to Asia is welcome stability and certainty to promote greater trade throughout Asia, including China and Taiwan.

Ilhan and Keith--foreign interference in our elections

Having someone like an Ilhan Omar purportedly "representing" our state just shows how deeply our international role is involved in this election. This is something the founders had to fear, and did--international intrigue. And so this question is forced on us.

In 2012, a few simple tweets between myself and Keith Ellison brought this even closer to home. The issue was, to me, whether Egypt's constitution should be changed--whether our country, who somehow for racial reasons had Obama ("progress"?), should back a change in Egypt's constitution to allow the Muslims as a political party to run a candidate for president--to have a religious takeover of the country. Ellison tweeted to me I was disgraceful for engaging in "king-making".

In 2018 Ellison pulled what I call a Muslim shift. Ellison, deeply involved in globalism, pulled a fast one which Gov. Mark Dayton foolishly supported. Engaging in deception, Ellison pretended to be running for his old House seat, to get a grip on it. But soon as the stilted, quota-driven "state convention" (Davis says it's not a public election, but a private election, contradicting the U.S. Supreme Court precedent)--right after the convention was over, when the deadline for filing was still open, Ellison marched over, in a "great" fake-news story, and filed for attorney general to run not as a lawyer but on the aboriton ticket (our sins have consequences). The shift was when benighted Mark Dayton boosted Ilhan Omar into the office. She had pretended to run for her old Phyllis Kahn seat (they called her the "Old Jewish Lady" in the district convention). With a "special convention" announced by globalist Dayton, no one else had a chance to get the endorsement away from the Dayton pick. Then Omar famously lied in the Jewish temple in St. Louis Park that she didn't really support, BDS, the disinvestment movement. Today, on the specious grounds of George Floyd, who would have hated how his name was used, Minnesota has divested from Minneapolis. The rebuilding will radically alter the character of Lake Street and Minneapolis even more unrecognizably.

China, Hong Kong and Taiwan--New Asian balance

I agree with Bernie Sanders. Even though he is a socialist and socialists control the government of China, Bernie said that if he were president, he would not “sit by and allow invasions to take place” in the case of Chinese invasion of Taiwan. And I would add the invasion of Hong Kong.

Sanders' opponent at the time, Joe Biden has a different view, closer to the dangerous novice Barack Obama, who in 2016 said “for China, the issue of Taiwan is as important as anything on their [the communist government's] docket.”

I’m glad Azar visited Taiwan today (9th) because Taiwan is our ally. I’ve been there. It is a wonderful place and Taipei is an amazing city. Talk about history! And beauty.

Some years ago we changed policy, based on changes Richard Nixon put in place at the tail-end of the Vietnam War. We shifted from recognizing Taiwan’s government, the Kuomintang, as the ruler of all of China--to recognizing China as the ruler of all China. They asserted a claim to Taiwan.

Accordingly, we had Joe Biden claiming that we wouldn’t commit to defending Taiwan against a communist takeover because Taiwan might say they’re independent.
So in Biden’s view one day Taiwan can be not only independent, but in fact ruler of all China! And the next, based on the convenience of the United States, they not only no longer are in the United Nations, but now they may not say they’re even independent of the Mainland. This is---ridiculous.

I won’t back such a policy and I don’t think the administration should either. I’m glad President Trump has supported the Taiwan Travel Act in 2018. And I’m glad Azar, as a cabinet Secretary, visited today.

It is appropriate that the Health Secretary of Donald Trump visit Taipei today, during a critical time in the world Covid19 crisis. Let’s call it the Chinese virus. But Taiwan is China, and so it’s wonderful that they have been very successful in protecting their people--and that they are so productive in manufacturing and can partner with us to build medical equipment as companies move back to the United States from abroad, driving our economic growth. It also drives our ability to help the rest of the world. Asia is the fulcrum of our international interests now.

Unlike Tina Smith I have experience in a number of parts of Asia, and in fact can speak several Asian languages (and I’m working on more--I’ll say I can speak Mandarin, Vietnamese, and some Japanese (and I’ve spoken some Tibetan; and I’m also studying Korean, Hindi, Hawaiian and Indonesian). So I’m watching very closely as Trump leads us into the new Asian balance.

How (1) Transparency, (2) active role for participating states, not force, (3) no religious test, but asylum if targeted for religion or other political persecution, and finally (4) restoring the borders and a safe zone in Syria and Iraq, NOT sectarian civil war, we must NEVER manipulate or participate in a sectarian civil war--will bring about a truly American resolution to the crisis.
